| Well time to show of my pride and joy. Now before anyone asks, yes I broke down and had a system built for me. Given its been at least 10 years since I built one (and that was only a HTPC).
I spent months researching and after pricing out components I was happy with the mark up to not have the hassle.
Specs:
- Fractal Design S
- Asus Maximums IX Hero
- i7-7700k @ 5.0 stable (currently around 34c idle and mid 60s while gaming)
- 32gb HyperX Predartor Ram 3200mhz (although I have mine underclocked to 3000mhz as helped with my CPU clock)
- Titan XP - currently running a 200mhz boost to the core close and 225mhz on the memory)
- 1TB Samsung SM961 m.2 main OS drive
- 500GB Samsung 850 m.2 (the SSD in the pics was removed as was an old one of mine failed on me, the mechancial drive is not connected either as using both m.2 slots on the mb disabled some of the sata ports and I just havent got round to sorting).
- Corasair 850w RMx PSU
- Full EK custom loop, with 240m and 360m radiators + CPU/GPU Block/Backplate
- Asus PG278QR -1440p/165hz main display
- Benq Zowie 1080p/144hz secondary window.

Overkill but I had been saving for around a year and a half, all my other hobbies/things I spent money of have fallen by the wayside to fuck it, go in hard.

While I have your attention, after all of the upgrades I really want to play in 1080p in ultra at 144hz having replaced the 4K monitor with the Acer Predator.
What do I need to do to make that happen? An i7 + better motherboard? More/better ram? Currently on Ultra getting about 80-85 FPS. I am only! getting 120 on medium settings.
PS I have hardly touched any of the settings except to turn power consumption to Performance.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't believe an i7 is necessary, you might only need to slightly overclock your CPU (don't risk with high temps!).
With 16 gigs of ram, lack of it shouldn't present an issue.
Honestly, don't expect 144 FPS on Ultra... you'd need a much stronger GPU for that. Either put up and cash out for a 1080, or simply play on Medium and get the glorious 120 fps. I wouldn't know any better... :/
